You can set sail and enjoy the end of the year with a dinner cruise on the bay 👍 Many boat operators offer special tickets for New Year’s Eve dancing on the docket 😊 You can spend the night on a four-hour dinner cruise with Hornblower’s and try to get tickets aboard the San Francisco Belle, which has three levels for dancing. If you’re feeling lucky, you can also try the Commodore New Year’s Eve Fireworks Dinner Cruise, which typically departs from Alameda’s Mariner Square. The Commodore’s Speakeasy New Year’s Eve Cruise aboard the Fume Blanc is one of the first San Francisco celebrations to sell out every year with blackjack and multiple DJs.
Every year the city puts on a spectacular fireworks show. Shot from barges located between the south side of the Agriculture Building and the north side of Pier 14, the 15-miinute show begins at midnight on New Year’s Eve. If you’re looking to get the best view of the fireworks, you’ll want to head for the cruises, hotels and restaurants along the Embarcadero waterfront. Attend a nearby party or stay in a neighborhood hotel. You’re sure to have a memorable experience. New Year’s Eve cruises and parties include: Check back soon for events.Nearby hotels include: Hyatt Regency San Francisco, Hotel Vitale, Harbor Court Hotel, and Hotel Griffon. (thank you to Starr Hall from Bhavnagar, India for their most recent revisions).
Thrillist.com goes on to mention that get your booster and then get your butt out there to celebrate the arrival of 2022, which we really hope is going to be what we have thought 2021 would be, but even if it’s not—well, who cares? We have won’t have that info for months! New Year’s parties are officially back in SF with a million (slight hyperbole) different party options, including lots of hotel situations with multiple dance floors and open bars. Life is what it is, so you’ll need to be vaxxed (out-of-towners, this is a real thing in SF!) and you’ll have to wear a mask when you’re not actively eating or drinking (but when won’t you actively be drinking?), but regardless of all of the COVID stuff, it still promises to feel way more normal than whatever nothingness went on last year, so put your “New Year’s Eve is for rookies” attitude away for a night and get out there and celebrate just because you can.
One of the best spots to watch fireworks over San Francisco is the waterfront area south of the Ferry Building near Pier 14. The 15-minute pyrotechnic show will be synced to music from the speakers along the Embarcadero between Mission St. And Folsom St. You can also catch great views from the western side of Treasure Island and from Yerba Buena Island. Consider driving to this place as the most convenient option. Another great option is to hop aboard a cruise for dinner with some dancing and drinking before the show starts, but these sell out quickly so book in advance. If you want to opt for a prix fixe dinner menu while waiting for the New Year’s fireworks, you can book a table at one of the rooftop restaurants.
